Leadership Development

Looking for an exciting and worthwhile way to spend your summer? Why not join us at camp and become a part of our staff? We need many motivated young people, aged 14 through college age to take on the challenge with us. Applications are online as well as information on additional funding for those in grade 12+.

This year we’re expanding our Cabin Leader-In-Training program for 14-17 yr olds. Watch for details on the website.

Join the Joy bible Camp Staff This Summer

Staff Scholarship Fund:  The Staff Scholarship Fund is set up to allow students to earn money for post-secondary education while they serve at JOY. Eligible participants can ask friends and family to donate to the fund, to receive up to $3000 additional salary. To participate, staff members must be in Grade 12 or older, serve at JOY during the summer of the year the funds were collected, and raise at least $200.

To allow all donors, including parents and grandparents, to receive a charitable receipt for their gifts, donations can not be designated directly for that staff member, but will be disbursed from the pooled funds received. Funds will be disbursed from the pool based on 1/2 of donations raised, plus a share of the pooled balance.

JOY will provide a cover letter and information for staff to send to their prospective donors. Funds may be raised until September 1, and will be disbursed at the end of the summer.

412 Youth Leadership Training
Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity.
1 Timothy 4:12

412 is a 3-week program for young people who want to develop leadership skills in their life, go deeper in their relationship with Jesus, and get equipped to work effectively with children, whether at JOY or in a variety of settings. Inspired by 1 Timothy 4:12, our goal is to challenge and train young people to live out their faith in such a way that transforms their world.

Program components include a balance of classroom and hands-on learning during week 1, with opportunities to apply new skills in the Family Camp program; during week 2, guys will be involved in the Boys’ Camp program, while the girls continue the learning in a wilderness setting at our Card Lake site; week 3 sees the girls involved in the Girls’ Camp program, while the guys are at Card Lake.

Some of the topics covered will be personal growth and discipleship, facilitation skills, group dynamics/team building, campfire and program skills, cabin-leading expectations and challenges. Mature leaders will live in a cabin setting (and sometimes a tent!) with program participants. Successful participants in program will be considered for cabin leader and support staff positions at JOY in future, and will gain valuable leadership training for other ministries and opportunities
as well.
