Bios:
John Mahaffey, Former Lead Pastor, West Highland Church, Hamilton, ON
John Mahaffey is a veteran missionary and pastor who began full-time ministry 45 years ago with SEND International in the Philippines. Later he served as Lead Pastor of Morningstar Christian Fellowship in Toronto and West Highland Baptist Church in Hamilton. He is a founding member of The Gospel Coalition in Canada and the United States. John and his wife Andrea have four adult children and four grandchildren.

Peter Mahaffey, Pastor Royal York Baptist Church, Toronto, ON
Peter Mahaffey is the son of John Mahaffey. Peter began his pastoral ministry as an associate pastor at Grace Fellowship Church in Toronto. After four years of serving at Grace Fellowship, Peter was sent out to revitalize Royal York Baptist Church, a struggling congregation in the west end of Toronto. He has now served as the lead pastor of Royal York for five years, and the Lord has graciously revived this once-struggling congregation. Peter and his wife Gracie have been married for 11 years and have two children, Inez and Eden.

Bio: Aaron is new to Joy Bible Camp, but has spent almost 2 decades in the summer camp world. He was a regional youth pastor in Hamilton but now serves as the Discipleship and Community pastor at Lincoln Road Chapel in Waterloo.

Senior Pastor at Garrison Road Church, Fort Erie, ON
Bio:  Jeff and his family have served at Joy Bible Camp ever since his oldest son joined the summer mission team as a lifeguard in 2017. Since then, Jeff and Jacqueline have helped with staff care, the dining hall or anywhere they were needed – although his preference is driving the boat and dragging kids on tubes across the lake.  Jeff is the Senior Pastor at Garrison Road Church in Fort Erie.

Speaker: Terry Norris
Lead Pastor, Temple Baptist Church, Sarnia, ON

Bio: ​Terry and Dureen Norris are originally from Savannah, Georgia. They have been in St.Charles, Missouri the last 10 years serving at Harvester Christian Church. They are the proud parents of three adult children; Meg (Skaggs), Sara (Akihiro), and Kiley, two grandkids; (Judah and Zeke), and two sons by choice, although not by birth, Isaiah and Elijah.
Terry was the pastor of Care and Formations at Harvester Christian Church. Terry has a Master of Arts degree in counselling and served as the director of Lifechange Christian Counseling Center at Compassion Christian Church in Savannah prior to coming to Harvester. In addition to his pastoral role at Harvester,  he has been involved in training leaders and pastors through Jesus College and Dallas Willard Ministries as an adjunct teacher of webinars and courses.

Dureen served in a ministry called Love the Lou, a Christ-centered inner-city outreach in downtown St. Louis. Dureen was also on staff as the Connections pastor at Harvester.

They are both graduates of The Merold Institute of Ministry.  Terry and Dureen have a passion for reaching the church with the message of transformation in Christ as well as reaching the lost with the message of eternal life in Jesus.

Speaker: Shaun Turner
Lead Pastor, West Guilford Baptist Church

Message Themes: The Be-Attitudes of Jesus/Spiritual Practice in a Digital Age

Bio: Shaun is a retired military chaplain who served in the Special Forces, the Army, and the Air Force. His deployments included tours to Haiti after the 2010 earthquake, to Eastern Europe, and with Task Force Afghanistan. He is passionate about spiritual formation through the power of the Holy Spirit, so much so that he completed a doctorate in Ministry on the subject at Tyndale Seminary. 

Shaun and his wife Amy (our worship leader for the week) have 4 children ages 10-17 and have been attending JOY together for over 20 years. They are big believers in Christian Camping and have served in several capacities at Joy over the years.
